7th Annual Conference of Research Society for the study of diabetes in India (RSSDI) U.P. Chapter was organized on 10th and 11th February at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan Lucknow. It was organized by Prof. Jalees Fatima, Prof & Head of Department of Medicine, Era's Lucknow Medical College & Hospital. The faculty of the department of Medicine of Era's Medical College was very actively involved in its oranisation.
It was attended by around 900 delegates and was orchestrated by informative talks by speakers of national and international repute. Prof Abbas Ali Mandi, Vice Chancellor, Era's University was guest of honour and Dr. Shaukat, S.M. Sadikot who is immediate past president of international diabetes federation president was the chief guest.
As a part of this conference, various workshops were organized like Public Health Education for diabetes which was held at Era's Lucknow Medical College & Hospital. In this workshop, public was educated by experts about diabetes as a disease and it's complications in detail. A diabetes related training for nurses and paramedicals was also held which was extremely informative. Apart from these workshops, there was a certificate course for Regional Nodel Officers. It was an interactive and successful session.
In this elite conference the major thrust was on prevention of complications arising out of diabetes. Dr. Anuj Maheshwari the organizing chairman laid emphasis on improvement of life style as the fore most need. Dr. N.S. Verma, chapter secretary informed about the spread of diabetes like an epidemic and need to control it. Dr. Arshad Ali Rizvi pointed out about the association of fatty liver and diabetes. Over all the conference was informative and comprehensively covered all major aspects of diabetes.
