The Department of Anesthesiology is ably guided by highly qualified and experienced faculty. The department manages 14 well-equipped modern operation theatres with central oxygen supply, advanced work stations, HFNC, ventilators, and multipara monitors that provide round-the-clock and ICCU emergency services.
The department also handles well-equipped ICUs for managing critically ill patients with modern facilities to suit the needs of Medical, Surgical, Cardiac, Respiratory & Neonatal units. The department's pain clinic provides services to the CATH-LAB and also for CT/MRI guided procedures, pain management and painless labour. The department is pivotal in providing quality peri-operative care to Era's Lucknow Medical College and Hospital patients.
The Department of Anesthesiology has a significant role in surgeries. The department utilizes the most advanced equipment to cater to the varied requirements of patients undergoing various surgical procedures and treatments. The Anesthesiology team comprises specialist doctors trained to address intensive care issues, acute and chronic pain, and Regional Blocks under ultrasound guidance. A new set of three operation rooms dedicated to Obstetrics and Gynaecology add to the impressive tally of ELMCH’s ten fully equipped air-conditioned operation rooms with anaesthesia workstations and multipara monitors in every OR.
The department's area of responsibility extends beyond the Operating Rooms to providing services involving life-saving manoeuvres. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Critical Care and Pain Management Services. The ICU is well-equipped with modern ventilators and high-end multichannel monitoring for critically ill patients.
The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine is actively involved in Undergraduate teaching through lectures, interactive sessions, evening teaching, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training on manikins and live demonstration of anaesthetic techniques. Postgraduate students are trained in various anaesthetic procedures like airway management, vascular access, neuraxial blocks and catheterization, nerve blocks, and invasive hemodynamic/neuromuscular monitoring.
The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care is actively involved in research activities. There has been active participation in various conferences by faculty as speakers or chairpersons and postgraduate students in the form of competitive paper presentations, poster presentations, and quizzes at the state and national levels. The research works of the faculty and postgraduate students have been appreciated and published in various national and international journals.
