Department of Community Medicine

The Department of Community Medicine is well-staffed and equipped to carry out teaching and training activities for the university's undergraduates, postgraduates and paramedical students. We have a well-equipped lab, museum and qualified statisticians and field staff.

This department is actively involved in research activities. Our field training centres in rural and urban areas provide an excellent facility for practical experience in community medicine. RHTC is located in Andhe ki chauki. It provides basic mother and child care and general care to the dependent population of sixteen villages adopted for health care.

The department provides specialist care by regularly visiting all broad specialties like medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, ENT and Ophthalmology. Immunization and family planning services, health camps and health awareness activities regularly occur. All dependent population is registered, and family folders are maintained. All National health programmes are run. UHTC, located on Victoria Street, provides basic health services to dependent clientele and trains medical graduates and postgraduates in health problems peculiar to an urban setting and slums. It is also involved in providing immunization and basic laboratory services.
