Message From HOD

The Department of English at Era University is a renowned academic division known for its excellence in Literature, Creative Writing, Literary Theory and Communication. The Department is home to distinguished faculty, including prominent scholars, writers and poets who contribute to Era’s rich intellectual community. It focuses on developing the language skills of the students in all courses on Era Campus. It works towards imparting Professional Communication, English Language, Soft Skills and Grammar. The Department offers a Ph.D. in English and offers Professional Communication and English Language courses at all faculties across the campus in sync with the New Education Policy (2020). The Department has a rigorous curriculum for studying Literature with emphasis on Literary Theory and World Literature with chronological importance.
With the advent of the global economy, polity and society, the entire world is woven into a single, interconnected platform. Towards this purpose, there has been global connectivity for which a single language network unites the world. Professional Communication has acquired new dimensions inclusive of English Language Teaching (ELT) forayed into Medical English, English for Business Communication and Technical Communication, as the need for effective communication across various sectors has become paramount.
The Department encourages creative writing and also provides platform to budding authors and poets from the student community to not only showcase their writings in the Students’ Magazine (ESLM) but also be a part of the students’ editorial board. Currently, the department offers doctoral degree, Ph.D. in English, and it is planning to introduce a Master of Arts (MA) in English by 2025. This will provide students with a robust foundation in both traditional and contemporary aspects of Language and Literature, preparing them for diverse roles in a globalized world.
