Message From Head of Department

Welcome in the Department of Food and Nutrition.
The Department of Food and Nutrition established in 2018, under the Faculty of Science is committed to apply nutritional and clinical principles to Nutrition Sciences in order to develop systems and processes that will prove to be beneficial for the health sector. A healthy diet and nutrition are essential for overall wellbeing. The risk of disease is decreased by making good dietary choices and understanding how much to eat. The population's nutritional state can be improved by taking the food and nutrition course. The use of therapeutic diets in the management of long-term conditions and other nutritional disorders is covered in the curriculum. Students will have the chance to acquire important nutrition assessment methods and intervention approaches that will help them provide patients with comprehensive medical treatment. They are also capable of taking on the duties of elderly and young persons.
Aside from receiving basic theoretical and practical training in many medical science fields, students in collaboration with Era's Medical Hospital, which has 800 beds, obtain the best practical facilities in clinical nutrition and dietetics. Students of Department of Food and Nutrition can also receive an internship in dietetics and practical knowledge based on patients. Students may have access in the field of dietetics, public health, nutrition, and food quality control, so that in the future they can select one of these as their specialized career.
The faculty members are fully dedicated and committed in order to achieve this uphill task with the available state-of-art infrastructure and facilities. The Department offers undergraduate and post graduate courses in Food and Nutrition viz. B.Sc Food and Nutrition, M.Sc Food and Nutrition, M.Sc Clinical Nutrition and PhD in Food and Nutrition.
We encourage our students to take part in workshops, training programmes, short term skill oriented courses in collaboration with renowned Research & Development organizations and Government institutes. We also provide opportunities to participate National and International seminars, conferences and lectures and also to participte in cultural and sports activities organized by various Era University club teams that provide them platform to showcase their talents beyond the curriculum.
