She has several awards to her credit, FAIMER fellowship by G.S.M.C., Mumbai, and the most coveted in Medical Education. She successfully completed 17 National and International projects and has mentored the several number of Ph.D., M.D. students and postdocs. She has more than 170 publications in National and International journals and has attended more than 200 conferences in India and other countries. Recently she published a research article in 21 Impact factor journal (Journal of Medical Virology) on COVID-19. She also organized more than 20 National and International conferences. She has various prestigious memberships in scientific organizations like the Indian Society for Reproductive Biology and Comparative Endocrinology, Association of Clinical Biochemists of India, Society for Free Radical Research India, International Academy of Biomedical Sciences (IABS), Indian society of Personalized Medicine (ISPM). In addition to research, she has other administrative responsibilities of the University as well.

She has been active in research for more than 33 years and area of specialization is: Molecular & Human Genetics, Genetic and epigenetic studies in Type 2 diabetes, Free radical biology, Toxicology, Clinical Biochemistry, Molecular aspects of metal toxicity, Male infertility, Autism, Precision Medicine.View CV


ABOUT DEPARTMENT OF PERSONALIZED & MOLECULAR MEDICINE

The department was established in 2019 with the aim of better patient care by providing early diagnosis, risk assessments, better prognosis and planning optimal treatment. The Department takes into account the individual pattern of genomics, dietary and environmental factors for the prevention, prediction, diagnosis and prognosis of disease and planning appropriate individualized treatment modalities thereby improving patient health care while also making it cost effective.

Mission:

  • -To provide high quality cutting-edge research and training in interdisciplinary science for better understanding of the molecular mechanisms of human diseases and their management.
  • - To translate the knowledge into innovative tools for the prevention, prediction, diagnosis and prognosis of disease and planning appropriate individualized treatment modalities thereby improving cost effective patient health.
  • - To establishing national and international collaborations.

  • -To articulate and lead in the evolving areas of personalized and translational research and develop into a world-class teaching, training, research and patient care entity.

Eligibility:
Candidate must have Ph.D/MD/M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Botany, Pathology, M. Pharm, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Genetics, Mathematics, Medical Lab Technology, Microbiology, Veterinary Sciences, Zoology or M. Tech in Biotechnology/Bio-medical as one of the Subject(s) and with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in degree or any other equivalent examination approved by UGC/ICMR.

Selection Criteria:
On the basis of a personal interview conducted by the ERA University.

Seats:
For every academic year only 20 Fellows shall be admitted.

Ph.D in Personalized & Molecular Medicine

 

(Course duration: Minimum 3.5 years; Annual Fee Rs. 50,000/-)

Eligibility:
The candidate must have passed post graduate in any branch of Life Sciences/MD with a minimum of 60% marks.

Selection Criteria:
Selection on the basis of entrance examination and Interview.

Laboratory:
The department has well-equipped laboratory with state-of-the-art facilities such as Sanger Sequencer, LCMS, UHPLC, Flow Cytometer, Real Time PCR, Gradient Thermal Cycler, Nanodrop, ELISA Reader, Inverted Microscope, Deep Freezer, Gel documentation system, Gel Electrophoresis Units, Cooling Centrifuge, PH meter, Distillation Unit, Autoclave, Laminar flow, Table Top Cooling Centrifuge, Rota Vapour, Incubator, Ice Flaker, Milli Q Apparatus & Weighing Balance, etc.

Computer Centre:
The Department has state-of-the-art computing facilities.

Library:
The department has well equipped library. Students also have access to central library which is well-equipped with the latest in reference books, periodicals, journals and newspapers. In addition university has facility of electronic library where holdings of the library are available in electronic format, and the services of the library are also made available over the Internet so that users can access them remotely.

Seminar Room:
The Department has seminar cum demo rooms for departmental presentations and meetings.

DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES

The department with the aim to ENSURE BETTER PATIENT CARE by enabling each patient to receive early diagnosis, risk assessments, and optimal treatment is working on genetic, pharmaco-genetic, dietary, environmental, and metabolic aspects of individual patient in different diseases. This department is currently working on various diseases such as Type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), cardiovascular diseases, osteoarthritis, celiac disease, breast cancer, chronic myeloid leukemia, neurodegenerative diseases, cervical cancer etc. The Department has well trained team of faculty members who are involved in both intramural and extramural research projects funded by ICMR, DBT, DST, CST-UP etc. and holds publications in various indexed national and international journals endorsing the exemplary research work carried out in the department.
