Minimal Access Surgery refers to any surgical procedure that is done by minor incisions. These operations are often referred to as key hole/button surgery and are beneficial for patients as smaller incisions, quicker healing time, decreased pain and almost no scarring is assured. In addition to all this, MIS also gives a higher rate of accuracy compared to open surgery.
The program provides comprehensive training in clinical management and laboratory practices so as to develop knowledge and skills in all aspects of minimal invasive surgery. Students are trained to understand all the basic concepts (instruments, tools, and anaesthesia) to be able to perform the most widely used fundamental laparoscopic techniques.

The first year curriculum covers anatomy, physiology, microbiology and pharmacology, surgical anatomy and basics of OT techniques. It also includes acquiring knowledge of equipment and instruments in minimal access surgery. In the second year students are taught and trained in basic life support & CPR, practical OT techniques & CSSD techniques including all endoscopic and minimal access surgery procedures.
Duration : 2 YEARS.
10+2 with physics, chemistry, and mathematics / biology with minimum 50% marks.
Applicants with a "Diploma in Minimum Access Surgery" are eligible to find jobs in any multi-specialty hospital. Students can serve as an assistant to surgeons at the conclusion of the course and assist in preparing the operation theatre before surgery.
