Pharmacognosy is branch of Pharmacy deals with biologically derived crude pharmaceuticals, such as derived from plants, animals, and minerals.
Throughout the world, the medical field has relied heavily on herbal medications to treat a wide range of illnesses. The department of pharmacognosy conducts most of its teaching learning process with minor and major projects with emphasis on extraction phytochemical screening, isolating active phytoconstituents, characterizing and studying the biology of these constituents, formulating herbal cosmetics, developing herbal formulations, and standardizing these activities through traditional claim with emphasis on globalization of traditional medicines
One of the main foundations of pharmaceutical education, pharmacognosy has experienced tremendous transformation in recent years and now stands as a highly interdisciplinary subject, a deeper comprehension of the pharmacological, ecological, and biochemical roles of molecules produced by nature, knowledge of herbal medicines, and innovative techniques for the analysis of medications, poisons, and herbal preparations are all made possible by research in pharmacognosy.
Our primary goal is to provide pharmacists with a futuristic and global perspective so they can support the pharmacy profession and help improve their country.
Mission:
In addition to teaching students about chemicals and pharmaceutical manufacturing, the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department aims to equip them with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to analyze drugs in pharmaceutical preparations, vital fluids, water, and a variety of foods. Additionally, the department aims to raise the caliber of scientific research in drug control-related fields. Enhancing its involvement in community service is another.
Vision:
The Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department stays abreast of the most recent developments in pharmaceutical analysis and sophisticated analytical equipment in order to efficiently serve the community in the areas of medication manufacture and drug control. The department also reads the most recent issues of scientific journals. Furthermore, the department aims to distinguish itself from other faculty departments in a range of educational fields and to become competent in interpersonal interactions at all levels within the department.
