ORS Day and ORS Week

Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology, Eras Lucknow Medical College, Era University, Lucknow in association with Lucknow Academy of Pediatrics was celebrated ORS day and ORS week from 25th -31st July 2019. This is the year slogan is ORS-AMRUT OF DEHYDRATION

In this context a school awareness program was held St. Marys Convent School, Para Road Lucknow on 25/07/19 where children where demonstrated how to practice hand hygiene and also educated about the use of ORS in diarrhea. The children and teachers of the school actively participated in the program. There were a lot of queries of children about diarrhea and personal hygiene which were addressed and clarified. Children were also given packs of ORS so that they can teach other members of their household about how to make and use ORS. The activity was conducted by Dr. Sumaiya Shamsi Assistant Professor, ELMCH, Mrs. Swapna Augustine Principal St Mary school, Dr. Saman Fatima, Dr. Subhika and Interns of Eras Lucknow Medical College.

During the week a Parent-Child ORS Awareness Campus was also organized at the Out-Patient Department of Pediatrics, Eras Lucknow Medical College and Hospital, Lucknow on 27/07/19. Mothers and Children were demonstrated how to practice hand hygiene and also educated about the use of ORS in diarrhea by Dr. Sumaiya Samsi and Dr. Pranjali Saxena. There were a lot of queries of parents about diarrhea and personal hygiene which were addressed and clarified by Dr. Geetika Srivasatva and Dr. Chhavi Nanda. An ORS mixing Competition was also organized and parents were given prizes for it. Principal, Dr. M.M.A. Faridi graced the occasion and stress on the needs of continued feeding especially breastfeeding during episodes of diarrhea. Mrs. Swapna Augustine Principal St Mary School was the chief guest and she emphasized the aspect of personal hygiene and a timely visit to the doctor in case of diarrhea. The program ended with a vote of thanks from the Head of Department Dr. Shrish Bhatnagar.
