The World Allergy week was celebrated in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Era's Lucknow Medical College and Hospital, Lucknow on 12th April 2019. Speaking on this occasion, Professor Rajendra Prasad, Head, Pulmonary Medicine, Era's Lucknow Medical College, former Director, Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, Delhi and currently Chairman, Indian College of Allergy Asthma and Applied Immunology (North Zone) said that food allergy is an allergic emergency that typically occurs within the first few minutes to two hours and can produce the sudden onset of itching, hives (urticaria), swelling of the face, tongue or back of the throat that may be accompanied by difficulty in breathing, lightheadedness, and hypotension. On this occasion, more than a hundred patients and their attendants participated in the programme. Dr. Anand Verma, Senior Medical Officer, Dr. Anamika Verma, Assistant Professor, Dr. Rahul Rathore, Assistant Professor, and all PG Residents also participated.
