Department of Optometry, Era University, organized a two National Conference "EraIcons 2019" on 24th and 25th August 2019 in which over 350 delegates participated. Amongst the notable speakers were Prof. Monica Chaudhary, Director, Ansal University, Gurggram, Mr. Gagan Sahni, Technical Director, Purecon Lavatories Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, Dr. Pankaj Choubey, HOD, V.P Tamanna Paramedical College, Prayagraj (Allahabad ), Dr. Aditya Goyal from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Bangalore, Dr. Kamal Pant, Dean and OHD, Optometry at UPUMS, Saifai, Etawah, Dr. Sanjay Mishra, Clinical Scientist in Optometry at Dr RP Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi.
The conference was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of Era University Prof. Abbas Ali Mahdi. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Mahdi enumerated the importance of optometry in current national scenario. He said that there is a need for close coordination between Ophthalmologists and Optometrists for the diagnosis of treatment of eye-related disorders including blindness. He said that with increasing life expectancy the number of eye-related problems will only increase.
The two days conference was organized by Mrs. Ragini Misra, Head, Department of Optometry at Era University as the Organizing Secretary. Mr. Sunil Gupta and Mr. Gaurav Dubey being the Co-organizers.
