The Department of Cardiology, Era's Lucknow Medical College and Hospital, Era University, organized the “World Heart Day” in which the noted cardiologist Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ahmad, ex-Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Director, Cardiology Centre, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University was the chief guest. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Abbas Ali Mahdi presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Mahdi welcomed the guest speakers and said that cardiovascular problems are both because of lifestyle related disorders as also because of genetic predisposition of a person towards it. He emphasized the need for public awareness about the various causative agents and spoke on various preventive aspects. He said that stress plays a significant role in precipitating the problem.
Dr. Ashish Jha from R.M.L. Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, spoke on “Rising problem of heart attack in young” and Dr. Roopali Khanna, Professor, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, spoke on “Heart failure update”. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Khanna deliberated about the basic cause of heart failure, its prevention and medical therapy and taliked about the latest guidelines and technologies available for treatment of heart failure. She said Heart failure is not life failure but a patient can live a long life if proper timely treatment is given and the patient follows guideline directed Medical therapy.
Prof. Jha in his presentation spoke about the basic cause of the heart diseases and also about prevention of death with MI. He said that there is a dire need for mass education, awareness of disease and need of basic life support teaching in hospitals and society.
Prof. K.P. Mal from CTVS Department Era Hospital spoke on “Use heart : Know heart”. Dr. Bashir Ahmad Mir from cardiology Department of Era Hospital spoke on Top trials of 2023 in cardiology”. Prof. Khalid Iqbal from CTVS Department delivered his talk on “Mechanical Circulating Support in Heart Failure” Prof. M.M.A. Faridi, Dean (Emeritus), Prof. Jalees Fatima, Head, Department of Medicine and Prof. Vaibhav Shukla from Department of Medicine also attended the function.
The Department of Medicine, Era’s Lucknow Medical College & Hospital, Era University, organized a lecture by Dr. Sunil Dabadghao, Consulting Hematologist and former Professor of Clinical Hematology at SGPGIMS, Lucknow. He spoke of “Costly Errors: Common but life threatening hematological disorders likely to be missed”. He spoke on various blood related disorders especially aplastic anemia, hemophilia, sickle cell anemia, thalassemia and blood related malignancies. He presented five interesting cases and discussed them with the faculty members and residents of the department of Medicine.
