Dr. Tabrez Jafar, Assistant Professor, Department of Molecular Medicine, Era University, Lucknow, received the prestigious "Prof. K.K. Srivastava & Prof. L.M. Srivastava Award - 2018" of the Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences for his paper entitled "Association of Vitamin D Receptor (FokI, BsmI, TaqI and ApaI) Gene Polymorphisms with Bone Mineral Density and their effect on 25-Hydroxyvitamin D Level in North Indian Postmenopausal Women with Osteoporosis" at the International Conference on "Deliberation on Translation of Basic Scientific Insights into Affordable Healthcare Products' held at CSIR - National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from 25th February 2019 to 27th February 2019.
Dr. Tabrez has carried out work on fracture risk in postmenopausal women. He presented his work on the role of vitamin D receptor in lowering the bone mass thereby leading to weakening of bones and increased risk of fractures in postmenopausal women suffering from osteoporosis.
