FOGSI, Era University’s Department of Obst. and Gynaecology and Lucknow Obst. and Gynaecology Society organized World Contraception Day on Tuesday in the form of an awareness program. The patients and their family members were told about the advantages of contraception use by the College of Nursing Students in the form of Nukad Natak. The Chief Guest Prof. Abbas Ali Mahdi (Vice Chancellor of Era University) and Prof. Farzana Mahdi (Guest of Honour) lit the Lamp and started the programme. This Programme was organized by Dr. Yashodhara Pradeep (National Vice Present FOGSI) and Head of the Department of Obst. and Gynaecology Dr. Uma Gupta and Dr. Nupur. Prof. Abbas Ali Mahdi addressing the gathering said that India has already surpassed China in its population. He said at the moment we are a young nation but if the population continued to increase at the same pace then it may affect even our economy in a long run when the number of elders will surpass the younger generation. He emphasised on the proper education of the masses on the use of various contraceptive measures.
Dr. Kumkum Srivastava, Dr. Manju Tandon, Dr. Sumita Singh, Dr. Shweta, Dr. Sameena also participated in the programme which was also graced by Prof. S.P. Jaiswar, Head, Department of Obst. and Gynaecology, King George’s Medical University and President, Lucknow Obst. And Gynaecology Society. Prof. Hem Prabha Gupta and Prof. Sujata Deo from KGMU also addressed the gathering. The Medical students and Nursing Students were also told about the advantages of contraception methods to reduce the Maternal Mortality ratio by 25-30%.
