Newly established library in the University building and the Department of Library and Information Science was inaugurated at Era University, Lucknow by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abbas Ali Mahdi on the auspicious occasion of "National Librarian's Day". The function started with the welcome address by Dr. Mohd. Kashif Khan, University Librarian who spoke on the importance of library with special emphasis on the autobiography of Padma Shri Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, who is known as Father of Library Science in India.
Dr. P. P. Rawat was the keynote speaker of the occasion. He spoke in detail about Dr. Ranganathan. Prof. P. K. Sharma also addressed the audience and emphasized the need to have a good collection of books in the library. Thereafter, Vice Chancellor of Era University, Prof. Dr. Abbas Ali Mahdi addressed the audience and spoke about the life of Dr. Ranganathan and said that the importance of Library never ends. He said the library is a very important component of any academic institution and there is a need to enrich it.
