The Department of Optometry organized a 'Cataract Awareness Rally' under the guidance and support of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abbas Ali Mahdi, and Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Farzana Mahdi. The rally was organized in association with the Medical Health and Family Planning, UP and NRHM. The students participated voluntarily and the supervision of the rally was done by Mr. Sunil Kumar Gupta and Mr.Ali Saeed. It was flagged-off by Dr.Y.K. Pathak, State Program Officer, National Program for Control of Blindness. It started at the 1090 crossing and went up to Ambedkar Park. The volunteers carried placards and banners which were provided by the organizing committee of Era University and also raised awareness slogans. A pledge was taken by the volunteers to prevent avoidable blindness caused by cataract.
